The following instructions are provided to guide you through assembling a SENSE-4 kit for installation and use.
The gateway unit supplied with a SENSE-4 kit is a "Ranger" unit provided by SignalFire. The SignalFire Ranger uses their own "SignalFire Cloud" platform.
Details of SignalFire Cloud can be found on their website
HERE.
These instructions must be followed carefully when installing into a hazardous area.
Please ensure that the sensor is configured and installed with the correct cable routing before you commence assembly of the sensor to the cable gland.
Unscrew the Lid from the Signal Fire Ranger Unit and Strip approx. 200mm of outer sheath from the Sensor cable.
Insert the main body of the Cable Gland (with the ½” NPT thread) into the ½” NPT thread of the Signal Fire Ranger unit. (This should already be done).
Insert round end of spanner (~1/2”) into Signal Fire Ranger unit cable entry point until you can see it from the bottom end as shown.
Insert flying leads of cable into ½” NPT Cable Gland and into the round end of the spanner as shown.
Pull the spanner out of the cable entry point and drag the flying leads of the cable with it.
Tighten the Gland Nut onto the Gland Body.
Strip 3-4mm of insulation from each of the cable core ends. (This should already be done).
Wire the Sensor Cable into the Signal Fire Ranger unit as per the schematic and photo below.
Before putting the Lid back on the Ranger, attach the battery connector, and ensure a suitable IoT SIM card is inserted in the microSIM card slot as shown.
Screw the Lid back onto the Signal Fire Ranger Unit to complete the assembly.
The unit is pre-set to power on and take a sensor reading every 4 hours. This data is then sent to the SignalFire Cloud.
This setting can be adjusted using the SignalFire Toolkit, more information can be found
