Configuring the gateway in a SENSE-4 kit

The gateway used in the SENSE-4 kit is a "Ranger" unit supplied by SignalFire.

The Ranger unit is designed to be used with a 4G SIM. This is mounted inside of the top cover in a SIM tray on the PCB. The Ranger unit should automatically recognise the SIM and set up the APN based on the network defaults. If the APN is not set up correctly, this can be amended in the Modem settings using the SignalFire Ranger Toolkit.

The unit has been pre-configured by Tan Delta to work with the Tan Delta OQSxG2-HAZ sensor. The Ranger unit is battery powered and will also power the sensor.
The kit will power on automatically to take and transmit sensor readings to the SignalFire Cloud and will then power down to a "sleep" mode.

By default, the kit is configured to power on every 4 hours.

The "report interval" time can be configured using the SignalFire Ranger Toolkit. Changing the report interval settings will have an effect on the battery life. The following are offered as a rough guide only:

To change the report interval, connect to the Ranger unit using the SignalFire Range Toolkit and the Micro USB cable supplied in the SENSE-4 kit.

Unscrew SignalFire top cover on the unit. Plug in the Micro-USB cable and also the battery.

Open the Signal Fire Toolkit software.
On USB Connection, Click Refresh.

Click Open to open a connection with the Ranger unit.

Update the report interval time in the formal hh:mm:ss as required, then click Apply to save the changes

IMPORTANT: Do not change any of the other settings using this toolkit. Changing any of the other settings could lead to problems with the system operation.

The USB connection must be closed by ticking the Close button before disconnecting the Ranger unit.
