Installing a sensor - Layout

A Tan Delta sensor can be installed into a wide range of assets, to monitor the oil condition of any oil type.

The following guidance is intended to assist the installation of a sensor into a number of example assets:
  1. Off-highway vehicles
  2. Ships / maritime applications
  3. Generators / gensets
  4. Large gearboxes
  5. Hydraulic power packs
  6. Fracking trucks / rigs

Off-Highway Vehicle
Sensors can be installed into various locations on an off-highway vehicle (such as excavators, dump trucks, loading shovels etc...) including the engine, the gearbox (or transmission) and the hydraulic system.
Typically an off-highway vehicle will require the sensor data to be routed into the cab area using a cable SB for each sensor installed, to then be connected to a third party system, data logger or display.

Cable SB is available in standard lengths of 2m, 5m, 10m, 25m, 50m, and 100m.
Cable SB comes pre-terminated with a connector for the sensor, the other end of the cable is bare wires to suit connection to any other system, data logger or display.

Ship / Maritime Applications
Sensors can be installed onto ships in various locations, including engines, gearboxes (or transmissions), hydraulic systems, generators etc...
Typically ships or maritime applications will require the sensor data to be routed to the bridge or an engineering control room area using a cable SB for each sensor installed, however the sensor cable can be routed to any location to be integrated into the vessel systems, data loggers or displays.

Cable SB is available in standard lengths of 2m, 5m, 10m, 25m, 50m, and 100m.
Cable SB comes pre-terminated with a connector for the sensor, the other end of the cable is bare wires to suit connection to any other system, data logger or display.

Generators / Gensets
Sensors can be installed onto generators / gensets.
Sensor data can be routed to control panels, control cabinets or other monitoring stations using a cable SB for each sensor installed, to be integrated into third-party systems, data loggers or displays.

Cable SB is available in standard lengths of 2m, 5m, 10m, 25m, 50m, and 100m.
Cable SB comes pre-terminated with a connector for the sensor, the other end of the cable is bare wires to suit connection to any other system, data logger or display.

Large Gearbox
Sensors can be installed into the oil bath of large gearboxes. It is recommended that the sensor is installed into a location where the sensor can remain immersed in the gear oil. Suggested locations are OEM ports, drain plugs, fill plugs etc...

Hydraulic Power Pack
Sensors can be installed into hydraulic power packs. It is recommended that the sensor is installed into the low pressure side of hydraulic systems. Suggested locations are OEM ports, or into the oil tank itself.

Fracking Trucks / Rigs
Sensors can be installed onto fracking trucks or rigs for monitoring the fracking equipment carried by the truck. Sensors can be installed into various systems of the truck including the fracking rig engine, transmission and fracking pump.
