Which communication protocols does the sensor support?

Which communication protocols does the sensor support?

The sensor is capable of outputting oil condition and oil temperature in both an analog signal and a digital signal as follows:

Analog:
4-20mA
Installing on systems with a current sensing input
Installing on systems with a voltage sensing input

Digital:
Modbus RTU on RS485*
CANopen on CANbus*
J1939 on CANbus*
Tan Delta Protocol on RS485*
*Details of the communication protocol specifics can be found in the master product manual found in our DOWNLOADS section of the website.
Wire colour allocations for use with digital communication types
All protocols output a value for both Oil condition (TDN) and oil temperature.

You need the Tan Delta CADS application to configure a sensor. This is designed for windows PCs and can be downloaded HERE All sensors must be configured prior to use for both the communication type to be used and also for the oil the sensor is to be ...
    • What is the sensor measuring?

The sensor is monitoring the overall condition of the oil using our Full Spectrum Holistic (FSH) technology. In practice this means the sensor is monitoring the whole condition of the oil using a method called complex permittivity, which is a ratio ...
    • How does the sensor work?

The sensor measures complex permittivity (which is a ratio between conductance and capacitance). The sensor does this does this by introducing energy into the fluid via a high frequency AC waveform Sensor induces energy into the fluid via a HF AC ...
    • What voltage does the sensor require?

The sensor can operate on a supply voltage of 9v to 30v DC Any power supplies exceeding this voltage range may damage the sensor.
