Can the sensor be used in hazardous environments?

We have a "HAZ" version of the sensor specifically designed, built and certified to ATEX zone 2 / intrinsically safe / Class 1 Div 2.

EX compliance standards:
BS EN IEC 60079-0:2018
BS EN 60079-11:2012

This sensor works in exactly the same way as the standard sensor, but the construction meets the requirements of the above standards.

The sensor body and nose is made from SS304 and the central electrode is of nickel plated brass.
    • Can the sensor be used in dielectric fluids?

Yes, the sensor is fully compatible with dielectric fluids. If you have a specific fluid you want to use the sensor with, please check our oil database on our website HERE If the fluid you wish to use the sensor with has not yet been profiled for use ...
    • Does the sensor work in fuel?

Yes, the sensor is compatible with fuel. We have several examples of the sensor being used to monitor fuel condition and the presence of contaminants, or other substances being added to fuel.
    • Does the sensor work in coolant?

No, the sensor does not work with fluids that are predominantly water. The sensor is specifically designed to be used in oil. Using it in a predominantly water based fluid will return results that are unreadable and may damage the sensor.
    • Do I need to configure the sensor?

Yes, the sensor is configured using a PC, configuration cable (Cable J) and the Tan Delta CADS application prior to installation. Help and support for the installation and use of the CADS application can be found HERE Prior to installation the sensor ...
